3/22 NEW PLAYABLE DEMO RELEASED
Pixel Prom Pregnancy 5/5 Build » Devlog
A lot has gotten done since the last build!
- Cow Crush” minigame:
- The cows now have final animation. They were animated by taking footage of real cows walking, extracting it, and then rotoscoping it.
- The background is now animated footage of realistic clouds moving by.
- The falling speed of the meat was tweaked to feel more heavy and realistic.
- The blood that splatters on the ground spreads more slowly to look more organic.
- If the player successfully crushes 2 or 3 cows in a combo, the game spawns a “2x” or “3x” graphic respectively as a reward.
- Completing the minigame causes confetti particles to fall from the sky.
- Additionally when you win, the background becomes stock footage of grilled hamburger patties. While the animation plays, the entire screen begins to wobble and warp as if the character is in a nirvanic state.
- Dust particles emerge from the player’s feet when they walk and land from a jump.
- The sprites for the ground were changed to now look like real ground.
- Of course, sound effects have now been added.
- “Spank” minigame:
- A proper background was added.
- The art of the talk bubble was changed to avoid copyright.
- The entire minigame is framed as if it takes place within a faux-internet video sharing website. The screen has a giant thematic overlay.
- The screen shakes slightly to mimic being recorded by a person holding a camcorder.
- The screen has a screen effect applied to it that makes the game’s screen appear to be low resolution to match the early-2000s video sharing website aesthetic.
- There is an entire animation added for when the minigame is lost.
- The “heart” particle system that is activated when the mini game is won has been drastically tweaked to avoid it looking too similar to the “heart” particle system already used in the “Flirt” minigame.
- The powerbar was slightly tweaked to shorten the window the player has to win. The minigame proved to be way too easy during playtests, hence the change.
- Of course, sound effects have now been added and changed.
- “Look Away” minigame:
- The background has been changed to the “Spin” minigame’s background. The “Spin” minigame will get a new background soon anyways. I much prefer the background’s use in this minigame.
- The positioning of the pre-rendered 3D sprites were tweaked slightly to look equal in x and y coordinates apart.
- When any character turns to face a direction, an arrow briefly spawns over them to make their action more readable. This should help clear some confusion regarding the minigame’s objective.
- There is now a black border that is drawn around the pre-rendered 3D characters and weight.
- When the minigame is lost, the speed of the falling weight was changed to seem more heavy.
- When the weight lands on the player when the game is lost, the screen shakes upon impact.
- The bug that caused the game to slow down for half a second when the weight spawns has been patched.
- A vignette is applied to the screen to make the composition more dynamic.
- All of the characters and the weight now have procedurally drawn shadows.
- Of course, sound effects have now been added and changed.
- “Casino” minigame:
- The background is completely changed. The whole minigame is now framed as if it were taking place within a Windows XP desktop.
- The game now prevents the player from completing the minigame when the player is off-screen. When the background becomes darkened, stopping the slot machine becomes disabled because of the absent character.
- The graphic of money flying downward when the minigame is won has been changed to be dollar bills instead of gold coins.
- When the minigame is lost, the screen becomes grayed out before the whole game pretends to blue screen with an error. It sounds dumb, but please watch the video. It’ll make more sense.
- Of course, sound effects have now been added and changed.
- In the “Shoot” minigame now has a seedy vhs aesthetic. The lights in the room flicker, the player camera subtly shakes to simulate being filmed from a human-held camera, there is a REC icon in the top corner of the screen, there are VHS deterioration wavy things that go up the screen, the character sweats as he runs away, there are finished sound effects in the minigame.
- In the “Stop the Clock” minigame, the minigame’s art is completely redone to have a chalkboard aesthetic. The arm, the clock, screen icon, and character are drawn with squiggly animated chalk. Furthermore, the graphics make the objective more clear now with a “hold” message next to the arrow. The minigame also now has finished sound effects.
- There were minor tweaks to the “Firework” minigame. The background has an applied filter to make it look more hand-painted, the firework physics were adjusted to look more realistic, the firework becomes a procedurally animated fart cloud if the minigame is lost, and the minigame now has finished sound effects.
- The “Collect” minigame’s most important tweak is that it now has a finished “win” screen. Also, though it is subtle, the minigame now has a wavy effect that is supposed to make the screen look like it has scanlines. This is most noticeable on the “You Dead” screen. Also, the minigame now has finished sound effects.
- Not much has changed in the “Flirt” minigame. The character now has an animated bow, the textbox is smaller to be less distracting, and the font is higher resolution. Also, there are now finished sound effects.
- The “Rip” minigame now resembles an old black and white film. All the graphics are black and white, the screen has old timey dust and scratches, and there is now a finished background. Also, the minigame now has a proper win screen with blood effects. Also, there’s finished sound effects.
- A lot of stuff is different in the “Flashlight” minigame. The background floorboards are different, the ghosts now have a distortion affect applied, the flashlight light flickers, the ghosts sizzle and let off steam while having the light directed at them, the ghosts become a puddle after dying, and the room lights up and heavenly globes float down when the minigame is finished. Also, there are finished sound effects.
